Prior Blue Star flag, World War I

A flag made for Edwin F. Prior and his brothers during World War I. Known as Blue Star Mothers, women would make flags with blue stars to represent children in military service. The name of each Prior son serving in World War I is written on the flag next to his representative star. All of the Prior brothers returned from the war. (If a child was killed in action, a gold star was sewn over the blue. Gold Star Mothers were those who had lost a child at war.) Courtesy of Ed Prior.
