The school sat right in a clear field with not a thing around it. There were woods in back of it, but nothing but red dirt around it. We had many suggestions for a name, but for some reason, none of them suited. Finally, I suggested “Fairview.” I told them we could stand in the front door and look north, south, east and west and the view was open and fair in every direction. Why not call it Fairview? Everyone approved, so “Fairview” our community has been until this day.
