More than 50 community areas have been identified throughout Morgan County's history, although only four incorporated areas exist today: Madison, Buckhead, Bostwick and Rutledge. Several unincorporated areas still contain identifiable commercial areas, although in many instances, the buildings are no longer being used. Some community areas are no longer identifiable at all, and are recognized only by an old community cemetery. Some are identified only on an old map.
Morgan County Heritage is working toward gathering information on all of Morgan County's communities, those that are still known and those that have disappeared.
As information is received, we will create new pages for individual communities. Until then, information on additional community areas can be found here. Please feel free to look around, or use the Search Morgan County function to look for specific information.
